The toy repaired together can teach care without a lecture about waste.

LEADERSHIP
Fixing something beside a child does the teaching that a speech about landfill never manages. The lesson lands through hands: this thing was worth keeping, breaking is not the end, and someone bothered. No moral has to be stated, which is lucky, because the stated version usually gets heard as telling off.
Choose one broken thing this week and mend it with whoever is around, slowly and out loud about what you are doing. Let the glue and the tape be the argument. If they ask why you did not just buy another, answer plainly and leave it there.
What could you fix alongside a child instead of explaining it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
