The person applauded for endurance may have needed relief much earlier.

RESILIENCE
Praise for coping can be a way of not helping. Calling someone strong for carrying an impossible load turns a structural problem into a personal virtue, and it makes asking for relief look like failing the compliment. The applause often arrives at the point where practical help would have been the honest response.
If someone near you is being admired for how much they manage, ask what would actually take weight off and offer that instead. Be specific: a night, a lift, a meal, a phone call made for them. If you are the one being praised, you are allowed to say you need help rather than admiration.
