A game reviewed afterward offers knowledge the final result cannot explain alone.

Final scores tell you who ended ahead and almost nothing about why. Going back over the moves afterwards shows the point where the position turned, the decision that looked fine and was not, the good idea that never got played. Winning can hide four errors and losing can conceal an hour of excellent judgment, so the result is the least informative part.
Spend twenty minutes reviewing something you have just finished, whether a game, a meeting or a piece of work. Write down two moments and what you were thinking at each. Do that a few times and the pattern becomes visible without anyone having to point it out.
What would you learn by reviewing a win you never examined?
