The item put away where nobody can find it has moved the problem rather than solved it.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Tidying and organising are not the same act. Putting something out of sight makes the room look settled and hands the real work to whoever needs the thing next, including you in six months, standing in front of a cupboard with no memory of your own logic. A system is only a system if someone else could use it without asking you.

When you next put something away, choose the place a stranger would look first rather than the place with room in it. If that is not possible, say where it went, out loud, to whoever shares the house.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What have you tidied away instead of actually dealing with?
