Recognition can make a private pleasure suddenly feel like public responsibility.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being noticed changes the thing you were noticed for. What you did on Sunday afternoons because you liked it acquires an audience, expectations, and a standard, and the next attempt is made partly for other people. That is not ingratitude; it is a real cost arriving disguised as good news, and it explains why praise sometimes makes an activity harder to return to.
If something you love has started to feel owed, make some of it unshareable again. Work on a version nobody will see, and keep the part that was yours from becoming entirely a performance.
Which of your hobbies stopped resting you once others watched?
