The mind loves familiar pain because unfamiliar freedom requires responsibility.

REFLECTION
Known pain has a shape. You already have the routines, the explanations, and the friends who agree with you about it, and none of that has to be rebuilt. Freedom is harder because it hands you the results, and once you can choose, you can no longer point at anything outside yourself for the outcome. Staying stuck is often a way of remaining innocent.
Ask what a familiar problem is protecting you from having to attempt. Be honest, and be kind about the answer, because the arrangement was probably built during a season when it genuinely helped. Then take on one small piece of responsibility that the old arrangement was carrying for you.
What familiar difficulty feels safer to you than an unfamiliar freedom?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
