The standard is most valuable when nobody would blame you for breaking it.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A standard held only when it is enforced belongs to whoever is enforcing it. The moment that carries real weight is the one where everyone would understand if you let it go, when you are ill, or overwhelmed, or genuinely have a good reason. Meeting it there is what makes it yours. That is also where it does the most for how you see yourself.

When you find yourself with a perfectly acceptable excuse, treat that as the interesting moment rather than a free pass. Keep the standard once under those conditions and note how it feels afterwards. Not every time, and not as a rule against rest, but often enough that you know you can.
