The person always entertaining the group may need company that does not require a routine.

A reliable role in a group can become a condition of being welcome. If you are the one who keeps things light, the entertaining is what people arrive expecting, and it gets harder to turn up flat, tired, or with something difficult to say. The performance is genuine and it is also work, and it can leave a person surrounded and unaccompanied at the same time.

If you know somebody like that, see them one to one where a routine is not needed. Ask an ordinary question and give the silence room. And if the role is yours, try letting one person see the version that is not performing.
