Some creative breakthroughs begin with deliberately breaking a rule you understand well.

Rules encode solutions to problems that may no longer apply. Breaking one you understand is different from breaking one you never learned, because you can predict what will go wrong and decide whether the cost is worth it. Ignorance produces accidents, informed violation produces choices.
Pick a convention in your field that you follow automatically and find out why it exists. Then build one thing that deliberately violates it and see what breaks. Sometimes nothing does, and that tells you the rule was inherited rather than reasoned.
Which rule in your craft do you know well enough to break?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
