After crosses and losses men grow humbler and wiser.

— Benjamin Franklin

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Difficulty teaches things that go unlearned in easy conditions. Losing something shows you what you had actually been relying on, how much was luck, and where your confidence was not supported, and that education is not available any other way. None of this makes the loss worth it or means it was arranged for your benefit. It only means that something usually comes back with you.

If you are in the aftermath of something hard, there is no need to rush at the lesson. It arrives on its own schedule, and your only task for now is to keep going at whatever pace you have.
