Some people are so fond of ill-luck that they run half-way to meet it.

REFLECTION
Some people arrange things so the bad outcome keeps arriving, then call it fate. Not deliberately, but through choices that make it likely: the deadline left impossible, the argument started at midnight, the person they keep going back to. Plenty of hardship is genuinely luck and has nothing to do with this. What marks the difference is repetition, since real misfortune rarely arrives in a series.
If one kind of trouble keeps returning, trace it back three steps and look for the part that was yours. Change that single step rather than getting better at surviving the result. It is usually the smaller job.
Which bad outcome do you half expect and half arrange?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
