GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Much of the anxiety inside good things comes from wanting a guarantee that they will continue. The guarantee is never available, so demanding it means never fully having the thing at all. Enjoyment and permanence are separate, and only one of them is on offer.
When you notice yourself gripping something good, try letting the question of duration sit unanswered. Return attention to what is actually happening. Impermanence is the condition of everything worth having, and accepting it is what allows you to be present for it.
What are you holding lightly, and what are you gripping?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
