Be not careless in deeds, nor confused in words, nor rambling in thought.

— Marcus Aurelius

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Sloppiness spreads across the three places it can live: what you do, what you say, and what you think. Careless action produces work that has to be redone; muddled speech leaves people guessing; unfocused thought means you never finish deciding. They feed each other, since unclear thinking produces the vague sentence and the half-done job.

Pick whichever of the three is worst for you at the moment and tighten it for a week. Finish what you start, or say exactly what you mean the first time, or sit with one question until you reach an answer. The other two tend to improve alongside.
