Great men are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material force; that thoughts rule the world.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

What people believe determines what they do, and that ends up mattering more than any amount of equipment or money. A conviction held by enough people moves institutions that no individual could move. Ideas travel where force cannot, and they persist after the people holding them are gone.

The practical version is smaller. Notice how much of what you are struggling against is actually a belief, yours or someone else’s, rather than a physical fact. Changing what a few people take for granted is often the shortest route to changing a situation that looks immovable.
