A life arranged for external observation stops making sense when the observation is removed, which is most of the time. Building for the version nobody sees means the structure holds during ordinary Tuesdays, alone, when no account is being given to anyone.

Ask whether your current arrangement would still make sense if no one ever asked about it. Where the answer is no, something is being maintained for an audience. Those parts are usually the ones costing the most.
