Riches exclude only one inconvenience,—that is, poverty.

— Samuel Johnson

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Money removes the difficulty of not having money, which is a real and serious difficulty, and it removes very little else. Grief, boredom, bad health, a marriage going wrong and a mind that will not settle all persist at every income. People expect the relief to generalise, and are surprised when solving the money problem leaves the rest standing exactly where it was. Both halves matter: the relief is genuine, and it is narrow.

If you are waiting for a certain figure before you deal with something, check whether the figure is actually related. Most of the time it is not, and the thing can be started now.
