There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern or inn.

GRATITUDE
A place where you are welcome, fed and left alone produces more happiness than most grand schemes. Part of it is being among people without having to perform for them; part of it is that somebody else is doing the work and you can put your own down. Ordinary comfort is underrated because it is cheap and repeatable, and we tend to credit only what is rare. The pub, the cafe, the kitchen table all do the same job.
Find or return to one place like that and go this week without an agenda. No meeting, no task. Just be somewhere pleasant among other people for an hour.
Which ordinary place reliably makes you happier than it should?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
