One life,—a little gleam of time between two Eternities.

STILLNESS
A life is a brief lit stretch with a great deal of dark either side of it. That is simply the arrangement, and stating it plainly is neither morbid nor consoling. Held steadily, it puts most things back in proportion: the argument that has been running for three weeks, the plan being deferred until conditions improve, the grudge kept in good order for a decade.
Let it settle one thing rather than everything. Look at what you have been putting off until a more convenient year and ask honestly what you are waiting for. Then bring one piece of it forward into this month.
What would you stop postponing if the span were this short?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
