I set it down as a maxim, that it is good for a man to live where he can meet his betters, intellectual and social.

CREATIVITY
Being the most capable person in the room is comfortable and stops you improving. You need regular contact with people who are further along than you are, because that is where the standard becomes visible and where you find out what you have been getting away with. The discomfort of being the least accomplished person present is exactly the useful part.
Find one room where you are not the strongest and get yourself into it this month: a group, a class, a project above your current level. Say less than usual and pay attention to how the good ones actually work. Then take one thing home and use it.
Where are you the most capable person in the room?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
