Completion trains confidence differently than praise ever could.

Praise depends on someone else’s judgment and can be discounted, doubted, or attributed to politeness. Completion is a fact you observed yourself, and it builds a different kind of confidence, one that does not require anyone’s agreement. That is why finishing small things changes people more than compliments do. It also survives disagreement, which encouragement never does.

Finish something this month, even something minor. What it produces internally is not available from encouragement, however sincere.
