A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.

— Francis Bacon

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Opportunities look like discoveries afterwards and are nearly always constructions beforehand. Somebody asked, offered, showed up early, stayed in touch or built a thing nobody requested, and the whole sequence gets summarised later as luck. Waiting to be found has poor odds, mainly because it depends on other people having spare attention for you.

Stop scanning for openings this week and manufacture one. Send the message, propose the small project, show the work before it is ready. Three attempts a week shifts your luck more than any amount of watching.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where could you create an opening rather than wait for one?
