Faith in oneself is the best and safest course.

— Michelangelo

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Backing your own judgement gets called the safe course, which sounds backwards until you consider the alternative. Handing the decision to consensus feels safer only because blame gets shared out; the cost is a life assembled from other people’s estimates, and none of them carry the result. Self-trust here is not certainty. It is being willing to be the one who decided.

Take a choice you have been circulating for opinions. Notice whether you are gathering information or hunting for permission. If it is permission, you already know your answer and are hoping somebody will co-sign it.
