Imagination is a poor matter when it has to part company with understanding.

CREATIVITY
Invention untethered from comprehension produces novelty and not much else. The images may be striking, but they do not hold, because nothing underneath them is true to how things actually work. Imagination gets its power from knowing the material well enough to bend it deliberately rather than by accident.
If your ideas keep collapsing on contact with reality, more imagination is rarely the fix. Learn the thing you are inventing around until you can feel where it gives. The constraint you understand is the one you can use.
Where has your imagining run ahead of what you actually understand?
