Pray that success will not come any faster than you are able to endure it.

— Elbert Hubbard

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Getting what you wanted faster than you can carry it is a genuine hazard, and it rarely looks like one from outside. Attention, money and responsibility all arrive with obligations attached, and the steadiness to hold them is built slowly, usually across less glamorous years. A wish granted early can cost you the apprenticeship that would have made it survivable. Speed is not always kindness.

If something in your life is growing quickly, ask what capacity it is outrunning: your time, your judgement, the people around you. Then slow the part that would break first, deliberately, before it breaks on its own.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

If success arrived tomorrow, what in your life would break?
