Friendship is the source of the greatest pleasures, and without friends even the most agreeable pursuits become tedious.

— Thomas Aquinas

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Enjoyment turns out to be partly social. A meal, a view or a piece of music thins out considerably when there is nobody to turn to, and people who have everything arranged well and no one to share it with often report a flatness their circumstances do not explain. The pleasure was never entirely in the thing itself.

If your life is well organised and somehow dull, look at the company rather than the content. Invite somebody into something you normally do alone this week. The activity does not have to be interesting for the evening to be.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which enjoyment of yours has gone flat for lack of company?
