Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together.

CREATIVITY
Work becomes more than competent when three things line up: the skill in your hands, the thinking behind the choice, and something you actually care about. Take one away and you can usually feel the gap. Skill without care is decoration. Care without craft stays a private feeling nobody else can reach.
Look at whatever you are making this week and ask which of the three is missing. If it is craft, slow down and practice the dull part; if it is thought, decide what the thing is for. If it is heart, find the version of the task you would still want to do well if nobody checked.
Where does your work use your hands but not your heart?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
