Build capability during seasons that do not require it yet.

Capability built during an easy season looks unnecessary while you are building it. That is the nature of the thing; if the need were already visible, you would be behind. The apparent pointlessness is a feature of good timing rather than a sign of waste.

When life gets quiet, resist treating that as permission to coast entirely. Pick one capacity to grow while there is slack, and let it be something you would want to already have if things changed. Seasons that ask nothing of you are the only ones that leave room to grow.
