Learn what is true in order to do what is right.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Knowing and doing are not separate projects. Getting the facts straight is the groundwork for acting well, because most wrong action comes from a wrong picture rather than a bad heart. It also sets a limit on curiosity for its own sake: understanding that never changes what you do has stopped short. The point of looking closely at something is to be able to treat it properly.

Pick one decision you have been making on assumption and go find out what is actually the case. Ask the person, read the record, check the number. Then let what you learn change something you do, even slightly.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which decision are you making without learning the facts first?
