People will accept a great deal from someone who is willing to say what happens next. Leadership is less about vision than about absorbing uncertainty on behalf of others so they can work with a clear picture, and that means being the one who chooses. Refusal to decide passes the anxiety downward.

If you are in charge of anything, look for the questions your team is quietly carrying because you have not answered them. Answer one this week, even provisionally. Being the person who ends ambiguity is a large part of what the role actually is.
