A secure person can compliment competition without shrinking.

Praising a rival costs nothing when you are not keeping a scarcity ledger in your head. It feels expensive only if you believe their strength diminishes yours, which is rarely how anything works. Being able to say plainly that someone is good is a reliable sign of being at ease with yourself.

Find someone in your field whose work you have been quietly resenting and say something genuinely appreciative about it, to them or to others. Notice that you are not smaller afterward. That noticing is the useful part.
