Who, being loved, is poor?

GRATITUDE
Being loved changes what counts as having enough. It does not pay anyone’s bills, and pretending otherwise would be unkind to anyone who is genuinely short. What it does is remove a particular kind of scarcity: the sense of being unaccounted for, of no one noticing whether your day went well. A person held in someone’s attention is rich in the one currency that cannot be earned by effort.
Take stock of who would notice if you went quiet for a week. Then let one of them know it, in whatever words you use. Received love that goes unmentioned tends to thin out.
Who in your life makes the lean months bearable?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
