A bad day is one square on the calendar. Don’t paint the whole month with it.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Bad moods generalize. One rough afternoon convinces you the week is ruined, then the month, then something larger about how things are going, and none of that expansion is based on new evidence. The day is one unit, sitting between other units, most of which were ordinary.

Before you write off a stretch, look at the actual calendar and count the days that were fine. Keep a one word note per day if that helps, because memory will not do it fairly. Then let tomorrow be its own square rather than a continuation.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How many good days this month are you currently ignoring?
