Your callus used to be a blister. Everything that toughened you first hurt you.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Protection gets built out of damage that healed, not out of never being damaged. The hardened part of your hand exists because something rubbed it raw first and the body responded by reinforcing it. Nobody gets the toughness without the sore stage, and the sore stage always feels like a mistake while it is happening.
When something is currently rough, ask what it is making you able to do that you could not do last year. Write that down, because you will not remember later. Then keep the pace sustainable, since the point is not to keep tearing the skin.
What used to hurt you that barely registers now?
