Shame says “you are the mistake.” A lesson says “you made one.” Listen to the lesson.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
After something goes wrong, two very different messages arrive in the same voice. One is about an action, is specific, and comes with an instruction. The other is about your whole self, is vague, and comes with no way forward at all. You can tell them apart by whether they tell you what to do next.
When the feeling arrives, write the sentence it is telling you. If it contains the word always or a statement about who you are, it is the unhelpful one. Rewrite it as a description of what happened and what you would change, then act on that version.
Where have you confused making a mistake with being one?
