Don’t win in a way that makes you somebody you’d avoid at a party.

How you get there becomes part of who you are once you arrive. The habits you use to climb do not switch off at the top, and neither does the way you talk about people who lost or the version of you that comes out when things go well. Plenty of people get exactly what they wanted and find that nobody wants to stand near them.

Watch yourself right after a win rather than during the grind. Notice your tone when somebody else does badly. That is the part that hardens without asking permission.
