“I’m just bad at talking to people” isn’t a personality. Talking is a skill, and skills come from reps.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Calling it a trait makes it permanent and lets you stop working on it, which is most of the appeal. Conversation is a set of learnable moves: asking a follow up, leaving a pause, remembering something from last time. People who look naturally good at it mostly had more practice earlier, often by accident. None of it is fixed at birth.

Give yourself a rep target rather than a personality change. One real conversation a day with somebody you do not know well. It is awkward for about two weeks and then it is not.
