Late-night texts are written by a version of you that the morning version usually disagrees with.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Late at night your judgment is running on low batteries and high feeling. Everything is more urgent, more final and more worth saying at one in the morning than it will be at eight. The version of you that wakes up has different information, mostly about proportion. That is not weakness, it is just how tiredness works on a brain.

Give yourself a rule: the heavy message gets typed and saved, never sent, after midnight. If it still needs sending in daylight, it will survive the wait.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What did you send after midnight and regret by breakfast?
