Most disappointment is just an expectation nobody said out loud.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Half the times you have felt let down, the other person had no idea what they were supposed to do. You had a picture in your head of how the night would go, or who would text first, or what a friend would say when you told them your news. They never got the picture, only the fallout.

Notice the next time you feel that small drop in your chest. Ask what you were quietly counting on, and whether you ever said it out loud. Some of those you will say next time. Some you will let go once you can see them clearly.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which expectation of yours has never been said out loud?
