Sweaty palms before the stage and sweaty palms before a roller coaster feel the same. Only the story you tell changes.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Your body runs one arousal program and applies it to everything. Racing heart, dry mouth, hands that will not stay still: identical on a roller coaster and backstage. The only real difference is the sentence you attach to it, and if that sentence is something is wrong with me, the body treats it as confirmation and pushes harder.

Try naming it as readiness rather than dread next time. This is my body getting set. The reframe is not a trick for making the feeling disappear. It stops you fighting a second battle against yourself while you are trying to perform.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What nerves could you rename as excitement before you go on?
