Try hard. Get called a try-hard. Win anyway. The label fades, the results don’t.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Calling somebody a try hard is usually a defence built by people who decided it was safer not to want things visibly. The insult only works if you agree that caring is embarrassing. Mostly the label fades within a year, while whatever you built by actually working stays with you and keeps adding up.

Keep going and let the word sit there. Do not argue with it, and do not perform not caring in order to make it go away. Ask yourself in five years whether you would rather have had the reputation or the result.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where do you hide how much you care about winning?
