Wait when waiting increases knowledge.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The clean test for whether to wait is whether the delay produces knowledge. If time is bringing you information, waiting is doing work. If it is not, then you are simply postponing, and the postponement has costs of its own.
Apply the test explicitly: name what you will know later that you do not know now. If nothing comes to mind, move. If something does, wait for it and then act promptly.
What would you know next month that you cannot know now?
