The best moment is not always the earliest one.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being first has value in some situations and none in others, and people default to earliest because it feels like initiative. Often the best moment comes after conditions have developed, after others have moved, after you are more ready. Racing to be early can spend an advantage you needed later.
Separate the question of whether to act from the question of when. Ask what would be true at the ideal moment. If that moment is not now, prepare for it rather than substituting speed for judgment.
What did you do first that would have gone better later?
