Creativity is a thousand small choices. Every one you make on purpose instead of by default makes it more yours.

Most of what makes work feel like yours happens in choices too small to notice: the font you did not change, the ending you used because it is the ending everyone uses, the color that came with the template. Defaults are somebody else’s taste sitting quietly inside your work. Making one on purpose is not a dramatic act. It is the difference between a thing you assembled and a thing you decided.

Pick three defaults in your current project and change them deliberately, even if you land back on the original. Being able to say why is the whole point.
