Make something terrible on purpose. It’s wild how much fear leaves once the pressure’s gone.
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
Most creative fear is fear of the result being judged, including by you. Deciding in advance that it will be bad removes the thing being protected, and what is left is just the activity. People are often surprised by how easy the work gets when nothing is riding on it, and by how often the bad version contains something worth keeping.
Set out to make the worst possible version of whatever you are stuck on. The most tired song, the ugliest layout, the dumbest opening line. Give it fifteen minutes and stay committed to it being bad. Then look at what happened while you were not guarding anything.
What would you attempt if it were allowed to be awful?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
