A spike in attention arrives from outside and leaves on its own schedule, and no amount of study makes it repeatable. Skill accumulates differently, slowly and under your control, and it is what lets you make the next thing whether or not anyone is watching. Both feel like progress from inside. Only one of them is still there in a year.

Judge a week by what you learned to do rather than by what it reached. Keep a short record of skills gained, not views. If something does take off, treat it as weather and go back to the work the next morning.
