Polish is a multiplier, which means it multiplies whatever is already sitting there. Applied to something real it makes it better. Applied to nothing much it produces an expensive nothing. People forgive a rough mix and bad lighting almost instantly when they recognize something true underneath, and no amount of production rescues a piece with nothing behind it.

Before another week goes into the mix, check that there is something in it you actually mean. Play it to one person and watch their face at the honest part. Work on that part first.
