Figure out why you make things. On the days the likes don’t show up, that reason is what’s left.

Work with no reason behind it depends entirely on the reaction, and reactions are weather. Some weeks nobody looks, and if approval was the whole engine then that is the week you stop. Knowing what the making itself does for you, the quiet of it, the problem solving, the record of your own life, leaves you holding something that does not move when the numbers do.

Write one sentence about why you make things and keep it where you work. Read it on a week when nothing lands. If the sentence is still true, nothing has actually gone wrong.
