Look up your heroes’ earliest work. It’s rough. That should make you feel a whole lot better.

Early work by anyone you admire is usually clumsy, borrowed and slightly embarrassing, and they kept going anyway. What separates them from the people who quit is not a better beginning. It is the years in between, which you never see because nobody posts those. Your beginner work being bad is exactly on schedule.

Go and find the first things your favorite artist made. Sit with how rough they are for a minute. Then treat your current work as the same stage rather than as a verdict on you.
