Two ledgers are being kept and they do not measure the same thing. Having little is a real difficulty and nobody should pretend otherwise, but it is not a statement about your worth. Heaven’s account tracks something a bank statement cannot see, which is what you are for and who you are becoming.

If money is tight, let that be a practical problem to work at rather than a verdict on you. Take stock of what you are actually able to give, which is usually time, attention and honesty. Bring the money worry to God as a worry, not as a confession.
