You were created by Someone who has never once been bored of you.

People get tired of each other, and you have probably felt somebody’s interest in you fade. God’s attention does not work on that schedule, because it is not based on how interesting you are being this month. The One who made you has not, at any point, found you tedious.

When you feel like background noise, try taking that to God rather than testing it on other people. Say something to Him about a dull ordinary day, because that day is not dull to Him. Being fully attended to is a strange feeling until you get used to it.
